LS swap in a Fox

[Bad Chad]

As some may know I bought the beater Mustang from Billy. My Plans for the car is to install a 5.3 with a 70mm turbo. I already have the 70mm turbo, inter-cooler, 317 heads and an LS6 intake. I'm in the process of getting the motor, hopefully I will have one next week.

Chad, the LS swap is really actually pretty simple.

Buy a 4.6 Tubular K, it bolts right up to the chassis. Then buy some energy suspension Poly mounts, and on the rear "ear" of the mounts, cut and add about an inch to each one. Wallow out the front holes about a 1/16th of an inch, and the mount fits the LS1/2/3/6/7 perfect.

Motor drops right in like it was meant to be there.

Dont know if you have considered this, but any thoughts on grabbing an LQ9
engine to throw in there ?

Thats the iron block LSx engine with Aluminum heads that went in the
trucks and SUV's.

You can pick up low mileage used ones on ebay for like $2,500.
Do a cam and intake swap and you have a kick ass LSx iron block for cheap.

The LQ9's had the flat top pistons for 10-1 compression and 6.0L displacement.


AJE also now makes a "universal" k-member for the fox.
they have all kinds of swap motor mounts including LS1 for that k-member.

I'm not too sure about all the numbers like the LQ9 ect... I found a 60k mile 5.3 out of a 02 chevy truck with the harness, ecm, manifolds, ect... for $800.00.

I already have the 317 heads and the LS6 intake, All I need now is the cam and springs. I think I'm going to go with a used 4.6 k-member, I have a welder and cutting torch to do any mods that needs adjustments.

hey chad, if you are still trying to pick a cam for it, a lot of people are using the z06 (ls6 i believe) cams in budget turbo builds, and it seems to work pretty well especially for being so much cheaper than aftermarket options

i got a comp 232,234 113 lsa. i had it in my car for about 1k miles then changed the setup. you can take it for 200 if you want it. its for sale on tech for 350.
